Make the Cut Your Own!

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Most people who frequently wear and shop for denim understand that jeans come in different cuts, most notably the straight and boot cuts. Straight-leg denim measures the same at both the knee break and the leg opening, making for a consistent cut that is especially flattering to those shorter in stature. Meanwhile, boot cut denim has a wider leg opening, giving them a flared-out look. This style originates back to the early 1800s, having been worn by everyone from naval cadets to hippies. This cut works best for taller people or those with ample thighs and hips.

However, there are other, less-popular styles of denim…styles with panache of their own that you may be missing out on! While straight- and boot-cut jeans are versatile and classic, they’re not the be-all and end-all of denim. Just like you wouldn’t limit yourself to wearing only one or two brands, why limit yourself to only a couple of styles?

The Do’s and Don’ts of Men’s Designer Jeans

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Fashion trends in men’s designer jeans come and go, but some of these trends should never have been released on the world. These styles range anywhere from yucky to just plain scary, not to mention it completely defeats the purpose of picking out big name jeans. The idea is to be comfortable while showing off your best assets.

The Don’ts Of Men’s Designer Jeans

Fashion crime number one with a great pair of men’s jeans is super skinny, ‘I’ve been painted on’ styles. Even if you are totally chiseled, this looks just plain wrong. Men’s fashions are moving towards a narrower leg, but you still need room to breathe and move. Let the ladies use their imagination!

                                          Skin-tight Men's Jeans? Cut!

You can have the hottest pair of threads on the market and if you don a t-shirt or golf with a pocket on top, the entire look is ruined. Another huge no-no is crocs or sandals particularly when they are worn with socks. If you have some of these urges, do yourself a favor and drop them in the donation box now before it is too late.

If someone tells you a pair of acid wash denim their biggest seller, they are lying! These became popular in the 80s and that is precisely where they need to stay — right along with the bad hair. This makes you appear old and just plain out of the loop. Spot bleached fashions are not far off.

Several designers are creating fantastic wide leg versions and oversized waists. If you choose these styles, please, please, please do not wear them with strappy thong underwear. It looks cute on a woman, but not on a guy of any size or shape. Again, please let the ladies get creative.

The Dos Of Men’s Designer Denim

Wear men’s designer jeans with a chic belt that makes a statement. Silver or pewter buckles are super trendy and add to the current styles. Crystals and interesting leather patterns are must haves for any man’s wardrobe.

An artistic T or hoodie can dress up even the plainest styles in an instant. These are no longer the plain printed styles of the 90s. Skulls, flames and intricate artistry with an abundance of color is definitely the way to go. Other labels are following the opposite theme with angel wings and crosses. Some are even combining the two topics on the same piece!

When it comes to selecting jeans, look for styles with a good cut, patterned pockets, and a comfortable fit. One of the hottest trends at the moment is leather and embroidered details highlighted with pewter and crystal accents. (Yes, crystals are not just for girls!) Bold stitching is another small detail that has a big impact on the overall look of the jeans.

Instead of diving into the back of your closet to find a hot look, take a look at some of the top men’s designer jeans available today. Everything that is hot right now is bold, bright, and downright delicious. They each make a statement, and by pairing them with the perfect items, you can make that a positive statement!

Here are some tips for finding the right size of women’s or men’s designer jeans on the first try!

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Everyone knows the feeling of spending hours finding the perfect pair of men’s or women’s designer jeans only to find out they sag and pull in all the wrong spots. Deciphering the sizing isn’t as difficult as you think. Finding the perfect fit for both women’s and men’s designer jeans requires a few moments of measuring and a few tips about the difference material has on size to decide what size of pants you’ll need.

Find the Magic Number

The first and most important part of finding the right size of men’s or women’s designer jeans is finding out what your measurements are. First, use a measuring tape to measure your waist at the point where your pants generally sit and add an additional two inches. For most denim wearers, this is either on or just over your hipbone.

The inseam, from the crotch to the hem of the pantleg, is the next measurement you will need to know. Last, get your crotch length by measuring from where the four seams meet in the middle of the pants to the top of the waist band. As a general rule for women, if you subtract two from your waist size, you will come up with your pant size. For men, simply add two inches to your waist size and you’re done.

 Exceptions

The material and design of each pair of jeans can also have a big impact on the size of jeans you should purchase. For denim with stretch, you can often go one size smaller. For those that don’t stretch or contain spandex, you are best to go up one size. Another great place to look when it comes to finding jeans that fit is the zipper. If it doesn’t lay down flat, the jeans are too small.

Style Choice

The style of women’s designer jeans you choose should also be taken into consideration. Average women with generous booties should look for jeans with little mid section decoration and stretchy legs. Tall and narrow women should choose form-fitting jeans with tapered cuffs and big pockets. Shorter girls can maximize their assets by selecting wider or casual fit jeans with light decoration running down the legs.

The opposite is true in men’s designer jeans. Men with larger builds look best in darker jeans that have a higher waistband and casual width legs. For smaller men, consider denim with narrower legs and a shorter waistband. For tall and average males, opt for wider legs and busier designs to look your best.

Finding a pair of men’s and women’s designer jeans should be more about finding the styles and colors you like rather than worrying over the size. Once you know your measurements, you can find the size that works. Considering your body type will give your size choice an added boost and help you find that pair of designer denim jeans you won’t want to take off!

The Dark Wash Denim Secret!

The Dark Wash Denim Secret!

Authentic premium denim can come with some serious price tags, and when you don’t have a ton of money to blow on designer clothing, it’s important to be sure that what you buy is going to last you through the ages. You’re going to want something that’s versatile and flattering and can easily be dressed up or down. You want something that’s comfortable enough to wear around town but sophisticated enough to be switched out into evening wear. The style of jean that is going to work best for you varies with your style. There is one type of jean that is going to look good on just about anyone, and here we break down this universal mystery jean for you. The secret? Solid, dark wash denim. You’re going to want a pair of jeans that have a consistent, solid wash with little to no distressing or embellishments. These solid jeans are going to work well in just about every denim appropriate occasion: whether you throw on your favorite tee while running errands or pop on a fitted blazer for a night out. The cut and style will vary based on your own style and body shape, but here are some basic rules to follow for the ladies.

Think about the shape of your body. Are you top heavy? Bottom heavy? Angular?

Shop for dark denim Rock & Republic jeans & True Religion jeans at eModa.com

If you carry most of your weight throughout your derrière, thighs, and hips, your best bet is going to be a boot cut. The flare at the bottom is going to create a balance with your hips and thighs and give you a more even look.

If you happen to be evenly bottom heavy (as in, your hips, calves, and thighs tend to be evenly roportionate), you want to look for a wide leg or trouser jean. The straight cut is going to float away from your body creating a more proportionate appearance without hugging anything that doesn’t need hugging. Have no hips or on the thinner side? A skinny leg jean is going to taper throughout the thighs and calves, creating the illusion of curves. This is going to fabricate balance throughout your body and give you a more even appearance.

Ultimately, you have to find the style that looks best on you and is going to work best with your personal style. Here at DenimRevolution we are HUGE fans of Taverniti SO denim! The lower pockets create a sort of shelf for a lackluster bottom, making way for curves you don’t actually have. With the half pocket detail on the front right hip, the double back pockets, and the variety of other small details that make these jeans stand out without being too loud, Taverniti is certainly a brand flattering for ALL figures! Authentic True Religion Jeans - Why does it matter?

Authentic True Religion Jeans & Designer Jeans - Why Does it Matter?

Designer denim is big business in the US. People often read about the latest celebs being spotted in a pair of True Religion, Rock & Republic or 7 For All Mankind jeans, and those with cash to spare rush out to the hottest boutiques and high-end websites to grab up similar styles. Because designer denim is of premium quality and usually sports unique washes, embellishments and fabric treatments, all of that good stuff usually comes at a hefty price, typically anywhere from $198 to $349 a pair. Those of us with less disposal income often search far and wide for the best and biggest steals and deals on these hot jeans. It’s very important to know, however, that when you see a price or discount that seems too good to be true, it likely is. Here are some tools of the trade for discerning authentic premium denim from the millions of fakes out there. Continue reading this article here.

Be careful buying designer jeans on the internet from websites that seem to have a deal that is too good to be true.  Any site that doesn’t offer a direct phone number to customer support is a site that you should stay away from.  You may also call the manufacturer and ask them if the site or store that you are inquiring about is an actual authorized dealer.  The phone call will take you 3 minutes and save you a ton of headaches.  The last thing you want is too place an order, spend $100 and get a fake pair of designer jeans.  Many internet sites sell fake True Religion jeans, Rock and Republic’s and Juicy Couture.  Be careful when buying designer items on websites that you don’t know.

True Religion Brand Jeans
True Religion jeans have become a way of life for men, women and kids who love premium denim. Based in Los Angeles, True Religion has created a brand around innovative, hand sanded, vintage washes, including stunning embroidery and intense focus on every detail of the style and production. When you rock the True Religion label, you know that you are wearing the best. Click Here For Authentic True Religion Jeans!

eModa.com believes in authentic True Religion jeans because we believe in the creativity of its husband-and-wife design team. Jeffrey and Kim Lubell merge the principles of classic rock, hip-hop and R&B in a line that has now added shorts, skirts, hoodies, jackets and other stunning clothing to the True Religion look. Naturally, they never take their eyes off the main staple of their line. At some point, it is all about the jeans.

You’ll Play a Starring Role in Authentic True Religion Jeans

Jimmy Taverniti redefined the influence of “American Vintage Style” in Europe during the 1980’s and interpreted this signature style by fusing sophisticated fabrications with intricate attention to detailing and construction. “I love what is worn and weathered,” says Jimmy. His passion for vintage styling drives him to create and experiment with new wash techniques and dye processes. From the beginning, Jimmy strongly believed that the look and feel Vintage Fashion would continue to influence modern sportswear and define a relaxed, yet elegant lifestyle. He was right. Jimmy is one of the first contemporary designers to refine this naturally worn and chic look. All of the fabrics he uses are carefully analyzed before being integrated into his line. Silk, denim and leather, indigo dye, natural pigments, and random discoloration are some of the effects and fabrics pioneered by Jimmy for this collection.

575 DENIM / MAY 75

Founder and head designer, Frank Mechaly, explains the recent change of his
denim brand name from 575 DENIM to MAY 75.

“As we were thinking about the various options for the name of our premium denim brand, we wanted to come up with something that was related personally to me and my life. This is the reason that we decided to call it years ago 575 DENIM standing for my birthday which is May 1975. Over the years we were asked frequently by our customers about the significance of 575 DENIM? It seemed, even though clear to us, that most customers could not make the connection! Because
the personal connection of the brand to its founder and the transparency of its meaning were important to us we decided to make it clearer for everyone and call it MAY 75 starting with the upcoming season. The new name and logo are being slowly introduced to the market. We have received positive feedback from all sides and are looking forward to continue growing our label MAY 75.”

575 DENIM / MAY 75 is a vintage inspired denim line designed to adorn the bodies of jean enthusiasts around the world. Our new design team from Europe has added amazing detailing to each garment and has, created many new styles and washes.

575 DENIM / MAY 75 is a unique California jean for men and women alike, who share the same laid back Los Angeles lifestyle. Our perfectly distressed denim is a favorite among celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, Usher, Felecity Huffman, Claire Keim, Carmen Electra, Kate Hudson, Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Tom Cruise, Scarlett Johanssen, Jessica Alba, Courtney Cox, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson, Ashlee Simpson, Angelina Jolie, Winona Ryder, Johnny Depp, Paris Hilton, Keira KNightley, Brad Pitt, Ashton Kutcher, and Kate Bosworth and 575 DENIM / MAY 75 was featured as one of the top four jeans for celebrities during the Sundance Film Festival 2006 by Hollywood Life Magazine.
