according to www.5thround.com, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) league has apparently banned the Affliction vintage couture clothing brand from sponsoring any of the fighters within the organization. Affliction and its UFC-inspired counterpart, Xtreme Couture, were well known for being worn by top-notch fighters such as current Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture, and famed fighter Chuck Lidell (currently the face of rival MMA [Mixed Martial Arts] brand Familia Gladiatoria), among others.
the reasoning behind this ban, you ask? evidently, the forces behind affliction feel they’ve familiarized themselves with the MMA game so much that they’ve decided to try and start their own fighting league! according to www.5thround.com:
“It seems as though Affliction wore out its welcome with the UFC as soon as the UFC got wind that Affliction was planning to get into the MMA game themselves.
The word is that the UFC was not happy about Affliction starting their own fighting organization. We currently aren’t sure if Affliction is partnering up with anybody or if they are going about it by themselves, but that was what we were able to confirm with our sources…”
despite this news, the ongoing trend of MMA-based clothing sponsorships is still alive and well. the UFC and its fighters have recently been supporting newer brands, most notably the aforementioned Familia Gladiatoria brand that’s been making huge waves in the industry, as well as up-and-coming brand TapouT.

the IFL (International Fighting League) has recently announced plans to partner with “Rampage” Jackson for a series of t-shirts bearing the athlete’s name and likeness, released through MMA-based clothing label Throwdown.
