Women’s Designer Jeans — What’s Behind Those Threads?

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Any fan of women’s design jeans can instantly recognize the threads, the cuts, and the style, but very few know the real stories behind those designs. Each designer has his or her own story that tells how a simple passion turned into one of the largest labels in the industry. Here are a few stories you should know about.

True Religion Jeans
True Religion Brand Women’s Designer Jeans

This Los Angeles premium design company began its journey in 2002. What really got this brand started was its unique denim and the unseen attention given to the smallest details. Their vintage washes have a touch of class unmatched by any other designer in the business. The True Religion style is evident in every inch from the stunning embroidery that is flawlessly applied, and forward seams that have been expertly sewn.

These designs flow evenly from top to bottom in the finest style. True Religion may be best known for its denim, they have a full line of clothing that match the perfection of their jeans. This line includes hoodies, jackets, skirts, blazers, t-shirts, and much more to help you find that perfect style.

 Miss Sixty

Miss Sixty Women’s Designer Jeans

Miss Sixty has taken the elegant end of women’s designer jeans to all new heights. They started their brand in 1991, and since have explored the irony, feminine, and wild ends of women’s fashion all with a sophistication and glamour that makes every girl feel sexy with the first touch of the fabric. Like True Religion, this brand focuses on its denim line, and the passion shows. Nicole Ritchie, Hilary Swank, Demi Moore, and many others swear by their denim. These jeans have the unique ability to make any girl look hot.

7 For All Mankind Women’s Designer Jeans

Los Angeles saw the birth of ‘7 For All Mankind’ back in 2000. They quickly rose above the massive competition, and have dominated ever since. Their women’s designer jeans are known for cuts that mix classic style with modern style in a perfect mix. Angelina Jolie and Cameron Diaz are just two leading ladies that swear by their designs.

Their unique cuts in combination with their designs and washes give ‘Sevens’ their popularity. They walk somewhere between revolutionary and feminine to produce the perfect-fitting pair of jeans for all women. Two years after starting their brand, they fed the hunger for their unique designs by expanding their original line. Today, they provide with women and children with some of the finest handbags, sportswear, and footwear on the market.

These are just three of the companies leading the way in women’s designer jeans. While True Religion leads the way with trendy creations, Miss Sixty rules the world of the feminine cuts. 7 For All Mankind has managed to take the road between the two. Together, these three brands can provide a woman with the perfect fit in a style of her choice. Visit eModa.com to check out all three of these brands and much more.

Make the Cut Your Own!

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Most people who frequently wear and shop for denim understand that jeans come in different cuts, most notably the straight and boot cuts. Straight-leg denim measures the same at both the knee break and the leg opening, making for a consistent cut that is especially flattering to those shorter in stature. Meanwhile, boot cut denim has a wider leg opening, giving them a flared-out look. This style originates back to the early 1800s, having been worn by everyone from naval cadets to hippies. This cut works best for taller people or those with ample thighs and hips.

However, there are other, less-popular styles of denim…styles with panache of their own that you may be missing out on! While straight- and boot-cut jeans are versatile and classic, they’re not the be-all and end-all of denim. Just like you wouldn’t limit yourself to wearing only one or two brands, why limit yourself to only a couple of styles?

Pittsburgh Steelers Excel at Football, Fail at Fashion

Monday, January 26th, 2009

With Super Bowl Sunday less than a week away, fans across the nation (and the world!) are geared up to watch the Steelers do battle with the Cardinals on the shiny, green Astroturf of Tampa Bay’s Raymond James Stadium. Consequently, news about everything from the team history of the improbable contenders from Arizona to which performers will sing at the halftime show (Bruce Springsteen) and which songs should be sung. One newsworthy tidbit that caught our collective eye here at eModa.com was this: the Pittsburgh Steelers have opted to don their “road-whites” (the white uniforms they wear when playing away games…as opposed to their home game black uniforms). Based on the NFL’s rotating system, the Cardinals were determined to play as the home team in Super Bowl 43 (even though the game will take place in Florida), and consequently chose to wear their red uniforms.

                 White Uniforms? Boo!

This begs the fashion-conscious question: what would possess the Steelers to -choose- to wear white after Labor Day? This classic fashion no-no has been around for eons…white is generally not a fashionable color to be seen in during the colder months. We at eModa understand that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and star players Ben Roethlisberger and Troy Polamalu have a lot on their minds right now…you know, the big game…but opting to wear white during the Super Bowl is a fashion faux-pas we simply couldn’t ignore. Kudos to the Cardinals for being the more stylish team this year…though we must admit, after they defeated Philadelphia’s beloved Eagles, we’re rooting for the Steelers to take ‘em down…uniforms notwithstanding. :-)

Rock & Republic

Rock & Republic designer Michael Ball believes everyone has the right to dress like a rock star. Once we checked out his edgy, progressive designs, we had to agree. Michael began his design career creating jeans for his girlfriend because her clothing did not flatter her sufficiently. He founded Rock & Republic in 2002. Today, we are all beneficiaries of his talents.

The look that Michael has developed with the Rock & Republic label employs modern silhouettes to recall the great rock-n-roll artists of the 1970s and 1980s. Rock & Republic fashions come in a wide variety of high-end clothing and accessories, including jackets, belts, jeans, shoes, tops and bags. The sleek fits and iconic looks have established the brand. Today, his jeans have become favorites of current-day rockers, celebrities and fashionistas.

eModa.com Makes Rock and Republic Jeans Available to Fans and Fashionistas Alike

Michael Ball is getting it right with eModa.com. He has discovered the right place to get Rock & Republic jeans into the hands of the trendsetters who make things happen in the world of couture. At the same time, he makes Rock & Republic jeans available to young people all over the world, pleasing those who are clued in about how to be on the cutting edge.

philly fashion is on the move!

Monday, January 26th, 2009

regardless of what comes out of philadelphia, it will always be compared to new york city. philadelphians know that, new yorkers know that…everyone knows it! philly is known known for three main things; cheesesteaks, rocky, and ben franklinregardless of what comes out of philadelphia, it will always be compared to new york city. philadelphians know that, new yorkers know that…everyone knows it! philly is known known for three main things; cheesesteaks, rocky, and ben franklin…of course, nyc can challenge that by saying that a grilled vegetable sandwich is a much healthier dish, rocky has nothing on the ghostbusters trilogy and as for ben, just take a powdered wig and place it atop michael bloomberg’s balding head.
the funny part is, philadelphia is slowly creeping up on the urban styles of new york’s yesteryear, and we’re doing a better job at it. graphic designers, fashion designers, graffiti artists, and fine artists have been starting clothing labels featuring handcrafted jeans, tees, sneakers, really anything they can get their hands on! the search in and of itself can lead to the entire meaning behind the work, and that, folks, is what makes philadelphia the best city in the world: the realization of freedom to do what you want, how you want, and actually making it work.

and now, a taste of genuine philly fashion for eModa customers across the country…the following shirt has a great story. in 1988, vox populi was formed as a nonprofit artist collective that supports the work of emerging artists with monthly exhibitions. Recently, Vox came over a batch of bad luck, so they asked virgil marti, a tyler school of art graduate, to design a shirt that could be sold as a fundraiser for their gallery space.

the beauty in this tee does not come from the print, it comes from the story.

The President Barack-in’ eModa’s Clothing?

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Obama in Roar?We all know President-elect (and soon to be just “President”) Barack Obama stands to be one of the most progressive officers-in chief this nation has ever known. Everything about Obama is modern, from his thoughts about how to better our country to his sense of style. Yes, style. During his presidential campaign, Obama actually posed for the cover of DNR (Daily News Record, a well-known fashion industry magazine) in one of his many designer suits.

We at eModa, however, started wondering one day…”what exactly would the stylish Prez wear if asked to choose from our hefty assortment of stylish duds?” This is what we came up with…
Obama in Five Four?

Obama is clearly a fan of dressier items, and we imagine this taste would prevail even among his casual clothing. We saw him in Five Four, a Cali-based men’s collection line that specializes in dapper button-downs. Or, maybe a blazer…nothing to flashy or crystallized…perhaps a classic Roar blazer, paired with Tankfarm slacks and some Mark Nason slip-ons…definitely his speed.

Obama in Dream Control and Dirty English?

However, we’re sure that with all the public appearances Barack Obama has been making, he surely likes to shed his more formal wear and strip down to casual clothes every now and again. We could totally see the Prez in a simple Dirty English by Juicy Couture hoodie, or perhaps in a sleek Monarchy track jacket. As for bottoms, Evisu brand denim would surely be right up his alley…not too baggy, not too conspicuous…perfect for a stylish, middle-aged man who still knows how to dress for the times.

Of course, the odds are that our nation’s new leader probably won’t be patronizing eModa.com anytime soon…but just the same, we’ll continue to be prepared for the occasion, stocking our virtual shelves with the hottest premium couture this side of the White House.

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Take a look at some denim that you can afford that will last!

In the midst of the nation’s current financial state (that some have gone so far as to dub “The New Depression”), folks of all economic backgrounds have been forced to change their spending habits. This ultimately translates to fewer gratuitous purchases, as consumers can no longer afford to throw away their hard-earned money on unnecessary luxuries. One thing that will always remain a necessity, however, is clothing. As such, we’ve compiled a list of denim brands for women and men that will comfortable fit into shopper’s tightened budgets…without skimping on the style and quality they’ve come to expect and enjoy.
