Tommy Hilfiger Fetches a High Price
Phillips-Van Heusen Corp. is set to buy Tommy Hilfiger for close to $3 billion dollars. The deal will create one of the largest clothing companies in the world.
Iconic designer Tommy Hilfiger will continue in his role as principal designer and guide the brand during the transition and into future seasons. With Hilfiger still at the helm, it is unlikely that retailers and consumers will notice any changes in the brand.
Phillips-Van Heusen, who also owns and markets Calvin Klein, is expected to make another $40 million annually.

I think Van-Housen Corp. buying out Tommy Hilfiger is a good thing for Tommy and the brand he built. He hasn't done very well since the 90's and I think it's because he's all about the classic American look and he hasn't changed that since the 90's. Even though this company will be buying him out Tommy will still remain the head designer, which may not be good, considering he needs to come up with some fresh new designs and reimage himself.
