Fashion Powerhouses: bloggers!
In my posts I keep talking about individuality, personal style, personality…oh all the generic buzz words (or should I say keywords?
) of styling. So much that I’m actually tired of reminding readers that ‘your personal style icon is you’ (and other such catchy lines
). But the answer to high fashion just couldn’t be one word (you), could it? Doesn’t make sense. But it is! I could swear on my grandma’s grave but that would be just lame, so I bring you ‘the proof’.
Who are the most influential people in the world of fashion today? Ok rule out the editor of Vogue and the directors of fashion weeks all over the globe for the time being. That’s just too obvious. Next to them and on par with the most fashionable celebs and critics stand fashion bloggers. That’s right, fashion blogs that started in a college dorm over a cranky internet connection or a café with wi-fi where fashion frenzied groups hung out are actually influencing the ramps in Paris and Milan. And the bloggers, well, they get to sit in the front rows…cough..lemme in…cough…please god!…cough.
Yeah we’re all hooked to the Catwalkqueen or NY Magazine’s daily fashion inputs, even CelebBuzz and what not. But hey organized fashion feed is not what my proof is about! Bloggers like Scott Shuman, Elizabeth Spiridakis and Susanna Lau attained international attention through their blogs and their personal views, likes and interests are taken damn seriously. Actually ‘damn’ is not a good enough expletive when you consider the fact that they actually inspire popular designers’ collections! Spiridakis for one sticks to her shopping itinerary of jumping charity shops while mooning over Giles Deacon or Jean-Paul Gaultier which she declares she cannot afford!
Ok check this girl out. This bunny toothed (and in this picture bunny eared) girl is Susanna Lau. She started StyleBubble in Blogspot with just some random pictures of fashion experiments and self defined style. Down to earth and totally chic, Susanna could be met in person in the front row of Chanel’s fashion shows!
Susanna captured this enticing way to match nails during her visit to the workspace of an upcoming lingerie brand.
Joe is the sweetest boyfriend ever. He comments on every outfit that Katie wears, every day of the year. And Katie, for her part, wears some totally fabulous outfits! This fantabulous couple are a huge sensation in the fashion world even as Joe mulls over his day job and Katie rampages the discount stores.
What we see, experience, opine and endorse as individuals can go a long way provided we are totally ourselves. There, proved!
