The Wait(list) is Over!
Finally, the wait is over! The iconic Hermes Birkin bag, once the most unattainable bag on the market, is now available without a waiting list.
Back in 2008 (pre-recession) the waitlist for a Birkin bag was reportedly so long that Hermes closed it unable to meet demand. Fast forward to today’s (post-recession) and you can get that bag you’ve been eyeing for years for a mere $6,500!
The bag is named after Hermes muse, actress Jane Birkin. Each is made of exotic skins (usually farm raised alligator) and may take up to 48 hours to make. The hardware on the bags (locks, keys and buckles) is gold plated and may be covered with leather upon customer request. Diamond embellishments are also offered.
Hermes distributed the bags in limited quantities making them scarce, exclusive and a must-have for the fashion and Hollywood elite.

Hermes or not, rich or not, famous or not, I'd never wear an animal on me! It's disgusting how the celebrities and fashion houses still wear/sell leather and fur and encourage the trade. Farm raised alligators stewed for 48 hours! does a pretty woman need a death on her head to look prettier?

I think its great that the bags are now no longer on a wait list, however, now they won't be as vaulable or exclusive because now anyone with money that is can buy it.

This bag is way over rated. The cut of the bag is too simple. I understand that the bag is high quality, but really. There is no need for this bag to be as expensive as it is.

I agree the big appeal of the bag was how exclusive it was. Now that anyone can get I don't think it will be as valuable either
