Vampires are hot!
Posted: 11/3/2009 3:49:07 PM

It's been one year since "Twilight" hit the big screen and Robert Pattinson became a big star thanks to his role as Edward Cullen in the popular vampire series. Vanity Fair's Evgenia Peretz got to spend some quality time with Pattinson and made some interesting discoveries about the 23-year-old actor, who graces the cover of the magazine's December issue (on newsstands November 4).

Given the yodeling on her hit song "Wind It Up," it seems appropriate that Gwen Stefani dressed as yodeling cowgirl Jessie from "Toy Story 2."

Bad news for Versace employees!
Posted: 10/29/2009 4:27:43 PM

First they announced their plans to close down their stores in Japan. And, now, in an attempt to increase profits, Versace will be cutting around 350 jobs worldwide by mid next year! According to Versace's chief executive officer, Gian Giacomo Ferraris, “Trading conditions in the wake of the global financial crisis have been severe and the company expects to make a loss in 2009. No organization can allow a situation like this to continue, especially considering the flat outlook for 2010.” Read more on CocoPerez: CocoPerez

VERY SAD!

The company will also try to reduce costs elsewhere by reducing capital investment and analyzing production facilities.

Paris' Trash Is an eBay Treasure
Posted: 10/29/2009 4:22:59 PM

A while back a couple of jokesters from the website HollywoodTrash.com rummaged through the hotel heiress' trash and placed their finds on eBay. Some of the items that were recovered from the socialite's garbage include a used toothbrush, an autographed postcard and a fan letter to the reality TV star. All of the aforementioned items are currently up for bid on eBay. When I last checked, the toothbrush had a bid of nearly $300.

If you think that's insane wait to you hear about the piece of trash that is getting the most attention... and generating the highest bids. According to news reports, an empty can of gourmet dog food plundered from Hilton's trash had launched an eBay bidding war reaching $1.5 million. What did I tell you about the world ceasing to spin on its axis? Frankly, I think the entire sale smells as bad as Hilton's trash. As for the $1.5 million bid, I think it reeks of illegitimacy.

Lady GaGa's A Stylemaker, To Receive Award From Marc Jacobs
Posted: 10/29/2009 4:18:01 PM

The past year or so of Lady Gaga dressing up like a self-important performance artist is finally paying off. The "Poker Face" singer is being given a fashion award. Marc Jacobs will honor Lady Gaga Monday night with the Stylemaker Award at the 13th annual Accessories Council Excellence Awards. That's right, she's officially an Accessories Stylemaker.

Congratulations!

One day she might even be a regular fashion stylemaker, but hopefully not because then she might start thinking she’s influencing the world more than she actually is.

Q&A With Marc Jacobs
Posted: 10/15/2009 1:52:41 PM

As a designer continually under the spotlight’s glare — be that of the runway or the gossip columns — Marc Jacobs has his own perspective on the mystique in fashion. WWD executive editor Bridget Foley talked with Jacobs right before the Paris collections about luxury, reality TV and the similarity of designers and sports stars. WWD: Fashion once upon a time was cloaked in mystique. Now we have obsessive media coverage with an industry where designers and editors are on display 24 hours a day. How do you think we got there? Marc Jacobs: When I saw this [question] all I could think of was something someone said to me once, an off-handed comment about 10 years ago: “Do you remember what it was like when it was a big deal to go to Paris and buy perfume and to bring your wife or your girlfriend? French perfume, because it wasn’t available anywhere except for in Paris.” Now, everything is available everywhere. I don’t know whether it’s worthwhile to moan about whether this is a good thing or a bad thing — it’s just the way it is. Life changes, and the Internet and the media have been a big part of the change that exists now. It’s just better to accept things for what they are and enjoy them.

On when she feels sexy:
"I feel sexiest in the nude…[My husband, Jordan Bratman] has a way of making me feel sexy….When you see something you dislike and your partner looks at you and embraces it, it makes you feel good. You know, the scars of life are beautiful."

On keeping her marriage exciting:
"It's important to make time for yourselves. I don't like schedules - I don't think sex should be scheduled. We all have our little turn-ons and the things that make our romance spicy, so you just have to tap into what that is for you, and keep experimenting."

FASHION’S NIGHT OUT
Posted: 9/30/2009 1:58:25 PM

On Thursday, September 10th Rock & Republic brought Fashion’s Night Out, the biggest, most exciting shopping event of the year, to Los Angeles. Part of a global initiative promoting retail, restoring consumer confidence and celebrating fashion, this stimulating event took place at Rock & Republic’s Signature Store on Robertson Boulevard and was an evening to remember. A movement that began in NYC as an effort to promote local retail, profit the economy, and get people excited about shopping again, Fashion’s Night Out evolved into a worldwide affair. From Paris to Berlin, retailers in major cities worldwide kept their doors open late, united in festivities which enlivened the consumer spirit in an effort to stimulate the economy.

Inspired by and echoing the late night extravaganzas that took place across the globe’s major fashion capitals, Rock & Republic’s Los Angeles-based extension of this evening of retail revelry featured extended shopping hours, exclusive product launches, lavish giveaways, cosmetic makeovers, and special guest DJ, CEO and Creative Director Michael Ball.

Rock & Republic was honored to take part in such a great cause, and even more pleased with the turnout for the event. Fashion devotees including Brenda Song and Arielle Kebbel flocked to Rock & Republic to be the first to get their hands on limited edition offerings including one of a kind runway pieces signed by Michael Ball and R&R’s exclusive Fashion’s Night Out legging. The champagne flowed, the music bumped, and the shoppers just couldn’t get enough… just another day in the life of Rock & Republic.
